Synopsis

Def Leppard perform the romantic ballad in a deliberately intimate, home-based setting rather than on a concert stage. Joe Elliott sings and plays piano in a living room, while the other band members appear playing their parts from separate domestic spaces. Through layered editing, split-screen compositions, and playful visual effects, the musicians seem to share the same room despite being filmed apart. The low-key presentation matches the song's themes of longing and emotional dependence, giving the video a warm, personal tone distinct from the band's larger-scale rock productions.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video uses the band members' homes as its main visual setting. Joe Elliott is shown at a piano in his living room, while Rick Savage and Rick Allen appear performing from their own residences.

• The musicians were filmed separately rather than playing together in one location. Post-production editing creates the impression that they occupy the same space, including shots in which one member appears inside another member's room.

• The song was written by guitarist Phil Collen and first appeared in a different form as a Def Leppard track connected with the "Make Love Like a Man" era before being reworked for *Retro Active*.

• *Retro Active* contains multiple versions of the song: the acoustic single version, an electric version, and a piano-based version hidden later in the album sequence.

• The single was released in the United States on November 23, 1993. It reached No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 and performed particularly well in Canada, where it reached the Top Five.

• The track became Def Leppard's last US Top 40 single as of 2026.

• The video was later included in the band's video compilations *Video Archive* and *Best of the Videos*.
