Synopsis

A man cares for a seemingly catatonic woman, feeding and dressing her before taking her on a drive through Los Angeles. He later abducts a younger woman and brings her to a grim laboratory, where she is restrained and subjected to electrical stimulation. As the procedure continues, the first woman's dormant consciousness appears to experience memories and fantasies through the captive. Anthrax appear only briefly, leaving the unsettling story and its dreamlike atmosphere to dominate the video.

Factoids & Trivia

• The song was created with Angelo Badalamenti, best known for composing the music for David Lynch's television series "Twin Peaks." The title refers to the Black Lodge, the mysterious alternate dimension in that series.

• "Black Lodge" appeared on Anthrax's 1993 album "Sound of White Noise," the band's first album with John Bush as lead vocalist.

• Jenna Elfman appears as the abducted young woman. She later became widely known for starring as Dharma in the sitcom "Dharma & Greg."

• The clip uses a deliberately cinematic approach rather than a conventional performance format. Anthrax are seen only in brief, fragmented shots, while most of the running time is given to the disturbing narrative.

• Much of the video was filmed around Los Angeles, with Hollywood locations helping create a contrast between the bright, familiar city and the increasingly sinister events.
