Synopsis

Driving through the Malaga countryside, Geri Halliwell encounters a group of stranded aliens whose spaceship needs repairs. She brings them into her eccentric world, taking them to a car wash, a store, and a motel where they watch clips from her earlier solo work. Their chaotic outing attracts police attention, but the visitors eventually escape. As night falls, Halliwell says goodbye and watches their spacecraft disappear into the sky, leaving behind a playful, otherworldly memory.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was filmed in October 1999 around Malaga, Spain, giving the clip its wide countryside views and warm twilight atmosphere.

• The aliens' visit provided a deliberately playful contrast to the song's gentle, uplifting pop sound, turning the video into a small science-fiction comedy rather than a straightforward performance piece.

• Halliwell shows the aliens footage from her own videos, including "Mi Chico Latino," creating a self-referential link between her first solo singles.

• "Lift Me Up" was Halliwell's second solo UK number one. Its release became part of a heavily publicized chart contest with fellow Spice Girl Emma Bunton, whose single "What I Am" was released at the same time.

• The song was the third single from Halliwell's 1999 debut solo album, "Schizophonic." The UK CD2 single included the music video as an enhanced feature.
