Synopsis

Henry Rollins presents a deceptively friendly figure who speaks directly to the camera in a calm, reassuring manner before revealing the menace beneath the surface. As the performance progresses, he appears in a series of increasingly grotesque and theatrical guises, including a police officer, a nun, and a Superman-like character. Black paint gradually covers his face and body, turning the video into a disturbing visual counterpart to the song's portrait of manipulation, deceit, and emotional exploitation.

• "Liar" began as a loose, humorous jam during the Rollins Band's early rehearsals with bassist Melvin Gibbs. The group initially treated it as a throwaway performance piece rather than a likely album track.

• Executives at Imago Records heard the song and pushed for it to become the lead single from the 1994 album "Weight."

• The version used in the video is not identical to the album recording. It features a different vocal performance and slightly altered lyrics in the opening section.
