Synopsis

A single mother struggles to support her young daughter while moving between a cheap motel, a strip club and the streets of Los Angeles. During the day, she handles ordinary routines such as laundry, lunch and bedtime. At night, she works as a stripper and prostitute, keeping her daughter nearby whenever possible. The documentary-style video presents her work as exhausting and dangerous, culminating in a violent encounter with a client witnessed indirectly by the child. Metallica perform in stark, shadowy surroundings, contrasting with the mother's bleak daily reality.

• The video accompanied Metallica's cover of Bob Seger's "Turn the Page," released as the first single from the 1998 covers album *Garage Inc.*

• Filming took place in Los Angeles in October 1998, and the video premiered later that month.

• Ginger Lynn plays the mother. She reportedly declined the role several times before accepting it, partly because she was concerned about the story's treatment of sex work and was protective of Seger's original song.
