The video unfolds like a sun-soaked American road movie filtered through Fatboy Slim's playful big-beat style. A cowboy lip-syncs the track in a roadside setting while a jukebox, a diner, dancing patrons, old cars, mechanics, and a beachside party create a loosely connected chain of visual gags. The action moves between exaggerated Americana and frantic music-video energy, with the repeated "funk soul brother" hook tying together its colorful scenes of movement, celebration, and deliberately over-the-top cool.

Factoids & Trivia

• Fatboy Slim reportedly disliked the official video, feeling that it leaned too heavily on familiar music-video cliches. He was also contractually required to appear in the American-label version.

• Spike Jonze originally intended to make the video but was unavailable because of work on his first feature film. Instead, he recorded himself dancing wildly to "The Rockafeller Skank" on Hollywood Boulevard and sent the footage to Norman Cook as a kind of homemade pitch.

• Jonze's rough dance tape could not easily be used as the official UK video because everyone inadvertently captured in the public footage would have needed to be cleared.

• Cook liked Jonze's homemade idea so much that it helped lead to the later "Praise You" video. The fictional Torrance Community Dance Group concept was effectively a development of that earlier experiment.

• Cook nearly wandered onto the wrong beach shoot while filming the video's closing material. The crew he encountered was actually making Daft Punk's "Fresh" video.
