Synopsis

In a retro backstage dressing room, the five members of SPICA prepare for a performance while dealing with the frustration of a one-sided relationship. Their heartbreak is expressed through exaggerated expressions, playful bickering, comic gestures, and increasingly unruly behavior. Between scenes of choreographed singing and dancing, the women use toy figures, food, and party clutter as outlets for their anger. The bright 1960s soul styling and deliberately theatrical presentation turn a breakup complaint into a sassy, humorous show of solidarity and confidence.

Factoids & Trivia

• The single and its music video were released on January 27, 2014. The song was written, composed, and produced by Lee Hyori, with lyrics co-written by Hyori and SPICA member Kim Boa.

• "You Don't Love Me" continued SPICA's creative relationship with Lee Hyori following "Tonight." It was the first SPICA single for which Hyori handled all three major songwriting and production roles.

• The retro look draws on 1960s soul and girl-group styling, while the choreography was interpreted as a tongue-in-cheek response to the highly sexualized concepts common in K-pop girl-group videos.

• The release was originally expected in December 2013, but parts of the lyrics were edited and recorded again because of possible censorship concerns.

• A behind-the-scenes "comic dance version" was released on February 6, 2014. It highlighted the intentionally exaggerated movements and showed how much of the video's humor came from the members performing the choreography with a straight face.
