Synopsis

Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince appear in a deliberately grimy, low-budget-looking performance video built from jumpy film textures, shadowy split screens and stark close-ups. The pair pose, sing and stare into the camera amid roses, feather boas, sunglasses and flashes of deadpan physical comedy. Sandwiches and other mundane details interrupt the song's sleazy rock atmosphere, giving the feverish, seductive presentation an absurdist edge. The result feels part glam-rock fantasy, part homemade art film, and entirely in step with The Kills' stripped-down persona.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video premiered online on December 10, 2007, several months before *Midnight Boom* was released in March 2008.
  • "U.R.A Fever" was the first single from *Midnight Boom*, making the video an early introduction to the record's more rhythmic, chant-driven direction.
  • Its visual style relies on scuzzy film grain, split-screen compositions and deliberately rough transitions rather than polished narrative filmmaking. The imperfections are part of the aesthetic.
  • Roses, feather boas and sunglasses bring exaggerated rock'n'roll styling into the otherwise stark presentation, while the sandwiches undercut the video's sensual pose with intentionally dry humor.
  • The physical chemistry between Mosshart and Hince became an important part of the duo's visual identity. Their interaction in this video also informed the more confrontational tone of later Kills videos.
  • The track's video was later paired with an audio-and-video remix by Jazzsteppa, an early example of a music video being treated as remixable material rather than a fixed promotional object.
  • "U.R.A Fever" was used in the 2010 film *The Losers*, extending the song's profile beyond the band's own releases.
