Synopsis

Ryan Adams and The Cardinals' "Follow the Lights" video is presented as a promotional tie-in to the ABC drama series October Road. Rather than following a separate, self-contained storyline, it pairs the band's reflective country-rock song with imagery associated with the show's small-town setting and its characters. The mood is nostalgic and quietly hopeful, echoing the song's central idea of using distant lights as a guide back home. A longer director's cut was also released.

• The video was issued in November 2007 as an October Road music video, shortly after the release of the Follow the Lights EP.

• A separate "Director's Cut" was made available through iTunes in December 2007.

• The song was written for October Road and was used prominently in the series. It also appeared in promotional bumpers leading up to the show's second-season premiere.
