Synopsis

In an abstract kitchen laboratory, droplets of water become the raw material for a strange chain of transformations. Tiny spheres gather, swell, and move like living organisms before burning away and giving way to metallic, glowing forms. Salt, fire, bubbles, and rolling objects create a miniature world governed by heat, vibration, and accelerated motion. Set to Funki Porcini's hypnotic electronic track, the video turns ordinary household materials into a cosmic experiment with an oddly tactile, dreamlike atmosphere.

Factoids & Trivia

• "Atomic Kitchen" appeared on the DVD accompanying Funki Porcini's 2002 album "Fast Asleep," which included eight visual pieces alongside the album's 14 audio tracks.

• Funki Porcini described the piece as the first time he created the music and video contemporarily, rather than making the visual component separately from the soundtrack.

• The artist said that much of the imagery was driven by a 300-watt bass speaker, making the video's physical movement part of the sound-to-image process.

• The six-minute film was presented at the 2003 International Film Festival Rotterdam in the short-film program.
