Synopsis

The video opens on a snow-covered farm, where a cow is presented as suffering from a mysterious disease. The joke soon becomes clear: Anthrax appear as microscopic organisms inside the animal, performing amid blue skies, clouds, and oversized strands of hair. The surreal imagery turns the song's title into a deadpan punch line, mixing mock-scientific presentation with deliberately crude visual humor. The clip closes by returning to the farmer and the supposedly sick cow, whose condition is dismissed with the answer, "Nothing."

Factoids & Trivia

  • "Nothing" was released as a single from Anthrax's 1995 album "Stomp 442" and was issued with a music video in 1996.
  • The clip's central gag is a literal play on the band's name: the group is depicted as anthrax-like organisms infecting a cow.
  • The opening setup resembles a mock news or educational report, describing the animal as living on a German farm and carrying a rare disease.
  • The band performance footage was designed to look microscopic, with the members surrounded by a blue, cloud-filled background and towering hair-like forms.
  • "Nothing" runs for approximately four and a half minutes.
  • The video was later included in "Return of the Killer A's: Video Anthology," released in 1999.
