Mustard Pimp - ZHM

Wiki

Synopsis

Set in a deliberately shabby 1970s-inspired world, the video follows Honey Peters and Randy Hungwell after Randy arrives at Honey's home selling hot dogs. A flirtatious encounter involving mustard quickly turns grotesque when the couple's genitals are replaced by talking puppets. The puppets' make-out session escalates into a violent brawl, leaving the pair drenched in blood and apparently dead. Combining sleazy retro styling, absurdist comedy, puppetry, and fake gore, the clip turns the track's aggressive electro energy into a deliberately shocking miniature exploitation film.

Factoids & Trivia

  • "ZHM" was released in July 2011 and served as the title track of an EP on Dim Mak Records.
  • The title was an in-joke referring to Zara and H&M, which Mustard Pimp associated with the kind of relaxed house music heard in clothing stores.
  • The video was removed from YouTube more than once. The controversy reportedly centered on nudity, despite the sexual imagery being presented through puppets and the violence relying on theatrical fake blood.
  • The two central characters are Honey Peters and Randy Hungwell.
  • The clip was promoted as a deliberately disturbing but non-graphic work, using shock value and dark humor rather than explicit imagery.
  • The original release was followed by remixes from artists including Dada Life, The Subs, Cyberpunkers, Tom Staar, and Ghet's Noch.
  • "ZHM" was later included in the promotional campaign for Mustard Pimp's debut full-length album, "No Title or Purpose."
