Synopsis

A solitary astronaut navigates a dim docking station suspended in space, moving through corridors and machinery as if searching for a way out or a sign of life. The station's stark interiors, drifting lights and abstract computer imagery create a feeling of isolation and quiet anxiety. As the song develops, the astronaut's routine becomes increasingly dreamlike, turning the video into a melancholy science-fiction vignette about confinement, distance and an uncertain mission.

Factoids & Trivia

  • Breton created the video through its multimedia offshoot, BretonLABS, working with motion graphics artist Stuart Sinclair.
  • The central character is played by Patrick Lyons, an actor and poet who was also a friend of the band. He had crossed paths with Breton during the group's early days on London's squat-party circuit.
  • The production was filmed over four days for only 160 pounds. Most of that budget went toward a Chinese fighter-pilot high-altitude helmet purchased on eBay.
  • The video accompanied "The Commission" as an early preview of Breton's debut album, "Other People's Problems," released by FatCat Records in 2012.
  • Its handmade space-station aesthetic reflects Breton's identity as a band equally invested in filmmaking, visual effects and music.
  • The track later gained an additional audience through its inclusion as a menu theme in the racing game "Asphalt 8: Airborne."
