POP ETC - Speak Up

Wiki

Synopsis

POP ETC perform "Speak Up" aboard a sailboat gliding across calm water at sunset. Their relaxed performance footage, including wide shots of the vessel and dolphins leaping nearby, is intercut with scenes from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2. The film excerpts follow Bella and Edward, from Bella's newly awakened vampire existence and first hunt to intimate moments between the couple and the Cullen family. The result combines a breezy, romantic band performance with a visual farewell to the Twilight saga.

Factoids & Trivia

  • "Speak Up" was included on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 soundtrack, released November 13, 2012. It was one of several songs commissioned or selected to accompany the franchise's final installment.
  • The video was produced by The Masses. Production credits list Ryan Carmody as director of photography, Andrew Hakim and Eli Stonberg as editors, and Hakim also handling the visual effects.
  • The official upload describes the track as written, produced, and performed by POP ETC, making the clip a showcase for the band's own studio work rather than a song created by outside writers or producers.
  • "Speak Up" arrived during the band's first year under the POP ETC name. The group had previously been known as The Morning Benders and announced the change in 2012.
  • The video appeared online in December 2012, shortly after the soundtrack and the film's theatrical release, positioning it as both a standalone POP ETC clip and a promotional extension of Breaking Dawn - Part 2.
  • The combination of sunset sailing, ocean imagery, and romantic film footage gives the video a deliberately lighter atmosphere than many of the darker supernatural scenes associated with the Twilight series.
