Synopsis

A cursed amulet passes through the hands of a bizarre succession of characters, including a Greek warrior, a medieval knight, a pistol duelist, a hippie and a man in a bear costume. Each seems to have a separate story, but their strange encounters gradually connect through death and possession. As the video unfolds in puzzle-like fashion, the amulet's deadly influence becomes clear, binding the recently deceased together in a surreal ghost story.

Factoids & Trivia

• "The Ghost" is the sixth track on Efterklang's fourth studio album, "Piramida", released in 2012 through 4AD and the band's own Rumraket label.

• The video was released in April 2013 and was described by the band as their best video up to that point.

• Efterklang members Casper Clausen and Rasmus Stolberg met the filmmaker behind the project at the FIB cortos short-film festival in Spain in 2011. His film "La Huida" won the festival's main prize, and the meeting led to an agreement to collaborate.

• The video's deliberately fragmented structure was intended to reveal its larger story gradually rather than explain the amulet's curse immediately.

• The production was shot on an Arri Alexa. Bet Rourich served as director of photography, while Xavi Santolaya handled the color grading.

• The video arrived during the wider "Piramida" campaign, an album inspired by the band's 2011 visit to the abandoned mining settlement of Piramida on Spitsbergen.
