Synopsis

Fiorious turns a simple celebration of beauty into a surreal gold rush. Across a series of tightly composed, brightly colored vignettes, the singer and various objects are transformed into gleaming metallic curiosities. Mustaches, food, accessories and even deliberately vulgar comic details receive the same extravagant treatment. The video's playful repetition gives the four-and-a-half-minute track a dreamlike, absurdist rhythm, presenting "pretty" as something excessive, artificial and unexpectedly funny rather than merely glamorous.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video's central visual rule is consistent and deliberately simple: gold appears everywhere, from an ornate mustache and an ice cream to a golden piece of excrement.

• The clip exists as a "Director's Cut" on Vimeo. Its production credits list Mauro Chiarello and Luca Esposito for cinematography, Davide Ferazza as producer, Claudio@BAND for color, and Withstand as the production company.

• "So Pretty" is the second track on Fiorious' self-titled debut album, released June 25, 2012. The album version runs for 4 minutes and 35 seconds.
