Synopsis
Kylie Minogue leaves a nightclub and plunges into a restless night across London's Soho. Wearing a heart-emblazoned biker jacket and denim hot pants, she struts through rainy streets, rides through the city in a convertible and appears to be followed by a mysterious man. The chase ends in a shadowy warehouse, where Kylie changes into a revealing black outfit and dances beside a motorcycle. Rapid cuts, monochrome footage and saturated color build toward a final burst of reckless energy.
Factoids & Trivia
- The video was filmed mainly in Soho, London, in April 2012, with Old Compton Street providing one of its most recognizable settings.
- Kylie walked down one of Soho's busiest streets while miming through an in-ear monitor. The shoot attracted a large crowd, making the supposedly spontaneous street sequence difficult to keep discreet.
- The production was kept secret before release. Kylie reportedly used a code name for the project and compared the secrecy to organizing a surprise party.
- The motorcycle sequence was shot in a Chinatown back alley. Kylie later described it as one of the more challenging parts of the shoot because the bike was so loud and its fumes overwhelmed the music.
- The black spandex minidress worn for the warehouse scenes reportedly cost only 15 pounds and came from a sex shop. Kylie admitted feeling shy about the outfit despite its confident appearance on screen.
- The visual campaign was tied to K25, the year-long celebration of Kylie's 25th anniversary in music.
- Fans helped unlock the video through a Twitter hashtag campaign built around "KylieTimebomb." A related Facebook application also allowed users to place their own images into Kylie's sunglasses.
- The clip alternates quickly between black-and-white and vivid color, matching the song's urgent, club-oriented momentum.
- The official video passed 10 million views on Vevo by August 7, 2012.
- "Timebomb" was released as a standalone K25 single rather than as part of a regular studio album.
