The Ready Set - Love Like Woe

Music Video

Wiki

Synopsis

Set in a remote woodland cabin, the video turns The Ready Set's upbeat electropop into a horror-comedy scenario. Jordan Witzigreuter hosts a lively pajama party while hooded figures with glowing green eyes gather outside and attempt to break in. The partygoers barricade themselves inside, but the strange attackers eventually overwhelm the cabin and capture Jordan. The playful contrast between the song's bright energy and the video's sinister imagery gives "Love Like Woe" an intentionally bizarre, memorable visual identity.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video premiered on March 31, 2010, shortly after "Love Like Woe" was released as The Ready Set's first major-label single.
  • Pete Wentz, who signed The Ready Set to Decaydance Records after hearing an early version of the song, appears as the head zombie.
  • The glowing eyes were inspired by small LED laser-light devices that were being developed for another project. Jordan Witzigreuter and the video's creative team built the monster concept around them.
  • Witzigreuter wanted the video to feel dark, strange, and deliberately disconnected from the song's bright, energetic sound.
  • The entire video reportedly took about twelve hours to film.
  • The original video became one of The Ready Set's most recognizable visual pieces and helped establish the project's early pop-punk-meets-electropop identity.
  • A separate international version was released later with a more straightforward romantic storyline. It follows Jordan preparing an elaborate attempt to win back a girl, making it considerably less horror-oriented than the original.
  • The follow-up video for "More Than Alive" was presented as a continuation of the original video's story.
