Synopsis

An exuberant parade of exotic animals marches, dances and performs its way through a colorful animated world. Each creature appears to take on a musical role, turning the track into a playful, dreamlike spectacle that mixes pageantry with cartoon energy. The animation follows the song's lively shifts between electronic pulse, brass-driven celebration and orchestral flourish, presenting "HEY U" less as a narrative than as a joyous procession of rhythm, movement and eccentric animal performers.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was created by animator Sundeep Toor as an independent animated response to the track. Toor said he discovered the Basement Jaxx vs. Metropole Orkest album while browsing Spotify and was immediately inspired by the idea of exotic animals parading to the music.

• The animation appeared online in September 2011, shortly after the orchestral album's UK release on July 11, 2011.

• This version of "Hey U" is an orchestral reworking of a song first released on Basement Jaxx's 2006 album "Crazy Itch Radio." The original featured vocals by Robyn and a children's chorus from Nanthomba Orphan School in Malawi.

• The song's Balkan and brass influences make the animal-procession concept especially fitting. The original recording draws on Romani, Balkan and klezmer elements, while the Metropole Orkest arrangement expands the track into a larger concert-style performance.

• The project was presented online as a music video, but it was not a conventional label-funded live-action production. Its identity comes from the hand-crafted animated interpretation rather than from footage of Basement Jaxx or the orchestra.
