Synopsis

"Dare-gale" is an abstract, texture-driven film rather than a narrative music video. Softly focused Super 8 images of majolica tiles, surfaces, and shifting forms dissolve into layered fields of color and shadow. Light seems to pass through, obscure, and redraw the objects, while superimposition creates a floating, dreamlike sense of movement. The imagery gradually becomes less recognizable, favoring atmosphere and sensation over literal meaning. Its hazy visual rhythm mirrors Jacaszek's dark, meditative electroacoustic composition.

• The video was released in January 2012 as a visual companion to "Dare-gale," a track from Jacaszek's 2011 album "Glimmer" on Ghostly International.

• The Super 8 footage was shot by Michał Jacaszek and Pedro Maia in Porto. The film was then altered in the darkroom through analogue light manipulation and superimposition rather than being built entirely with digital effects.

• The colorful tile imagery was noted in early coverage of the video as majolica tiles, but the processing makes their original surfaces appear unstable and almost abstract.
