PINS - STAY TRUE

Music Video
ArtistPINS

Wiki

Synopsis

PINS perform "Stay True" in a stark, monochrome setting shaped by the visual language of 1960s screen tests. The band members face the camera with mournful, unwavering expressions, interrupting their stillness with small, deliberate movements. Close-ups, lo-fi film grain, and flashes of menace create a tense atmosphere around the song's reverb-heavy garage-rock attack. A visible black eye and a threatening baseball bat add physical danger to the otherwise restrained presentation, making the video feel more like a controlled study in attitude than a conventional performance clip.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was premiered by DMY on June 4, 2013, ahead of PINS' debut album, "Girls Like Us."
  • Its visual concept draws on 1960s screen tests, using fixed gazes, limited movement, and an intentionally rough film texture.
  • Drummer Sophie Galpin's black eye was genuine, giving the video one of its most striking details.
  • Guitarist Lois MacDonald appears with a baseball bat, adding a threatening edge to the band's otherwise controlled poses.
  • "Stay True" was released as a double A-side single with "Get With Me."
  • Both songs were recorded during the same sessions as the rest of "Girls Like Us" at Parr Street Studio in Liverpool.
  • The track helped introduce PINS to a wider audience during the period when the Manchester band was building attention around its Bella Union debut.
