Synopsis

A hunter follows a white rabbit into an increasingly bizarre wilderness, only to discover that the chase has reversed its direction. Motorcycle pursuits, handmade props, strange woodland figures, an animated detour, and surreal transformations turn the adventure into a fast-moving fantasy short. Tree's character moves through a world that feels part fairy tale, part fever dream, and part homemade action movie, until he is no longer the pursuer but the one being pursued.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video is built around "Rabbit Hole," a track featuring Beat Culture and Lena Kuhn, and was released during Tree's early artistic period before he became widely known as Oliver Tree.

• Production took place over a single weekend in Santa Cruz, California, but the project reportedly required more than six months of subsequent work.

• The production used a RED Scarlet camera with an Optimo zoom lens and relied largely on available light rather than elaborate lighting setups.

• Cinematographer Griffin Yu was strapped to the back of a motorcycle to capture the riding footage, making the chase sequences particularly hands-on.

• Tree handled the production and art department work himself. The video's visual effects, typography, animation, and color work were divided among a small group of collaborators.

• The project was promoted as a short film as much as a music video. Its handmade approach includes custom-designed titles, practical elements, visual effects, and a dedicated animated sequence.
