Tommy Sparks - She's Got Me Dancing

Music Video

Wiki

Synopsis

Tommy Sparks performs amid a fever dream of garish colors, retro-futurist styling and deliberately cheap-looking effects. A muscular female warrior appears to command the action, firing beams from her eyes at dancers and sending the performance into increasingly bizarre territory. The surreal parade eventually includes an alien figure, bodybuilders and a bare-chested man whose nipples emit laser beams. Rather than following a conventional narrative, the video builds a chaotic, campy spectacle that matches the song's bright electro-pop energy with visual excess and deadpan absurdity.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was released in the United Kingdom on March 25, 2009, ahead of the single's May 4 release.
  • The production credits list Clark Reinking as producer and Jonathan Krisel as editor.
  • The cast includes professional bodybuilder Jayne Trcka, mixed martial artist Cris Cyborg and Palmer Scott, who is identified in the credits as the "Nipple Laser Guy."
  • Its visual language draws on low-budget science fiction, bodybuilding imagery, psychedelic effects and retro television aesthetics, giving the clip an intentionally chaotic and campy tone.
  • The song became one of Sparks' most visible releases outside the album, appearing in advertising for the iPod touch, the PlayStation 3 game EyePet and The Perfume Shop.
  • It was also included in the soundtracks for FIFA 10 and Just Dance 3, helping the track reach audiences well beyond the alternative dance scene.
