Sebastian - Embody

Music Video

Wiki

Synopsis

A young boy discovers an infectious inner rhythm and begins dancing wherever he goes, moving through domestic spaces, public settings, and gatherings with complete confidence. His loose, playful routine contrasts with the indifference of the people around him, who continue with their everyday activities as if he were invisible. As the performance develops, the boy adopts a sharper, more polished look and dances with a girl. When the music abruptly stops, the fantasy dissolves, leaving the encounter suspended between imagination and reality.

Factoids & Trivia

  • "Embody" was released as a single and EP track on April 4, 2011, ahead of SebastiAn's debut album, "Total," which followed on May 30, 2011.
  • The video premiered during the promotional campaign for "Total" in March 2011. It offered a notably playful and accessible counterpart to the album's much harsher, sexually explicit teaser material.
  • In an interview connected with the video's premiere, SebastiAn described the dancing child as the answer to what his sound would be if it could become a tangible thing. The concept therefore works as a visual embodiment of the track itself.
  • The choreography's loose, funk-influenced style helped the video communicate the song's energy without relying on a conventional narrative. Contemporary coverage frequently highlighted its connection to dance, disco, and pop performance.
  • The "Embody" release also included remixes by DJ Premier and Kavinsky, extending the track beyond SebastiAn's electronic and French-house audience.
