Synopsis
After casino owner Willy Bank double-crosses Reuben Tishkoff and leaves him gravely ill, Danny Ocean reunites his crew for a highly personal job. Their target is Bank's new Las Vegas casino, which they plan to sabotage during its grand opening by manipulating games, humiliating the casino's reputation, and turning its own lavish security and technology against it.
Factoids & Trivia
- The film is the third and final entry in the Ocean's trilogy that began with Ocean's Eleven (2001) and continued with Ocean's Twelve (2004).
- Much of the fictional Bank casino was built on five Warner Bros. sound stages, allowing the production to control the elaborate interiors rather than take over a functioning casino for an extended period.
- Las Vegas location work included the Bellagio, McCarran International Airport, a heliport, and the Palazzo resort while it was still under construction. The Bellagio had also appeared prominently in Ocean's Eleven.
- Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta-Jones did not return as Tess Ocean and Isabel Lahiri because the story did not give either character a substantial role. The film acknowledges their absence by making the heist a personal matter for the men involved.
- A London sequence featuring Linus was filmed while the actor was already in Britain working on The Bourne Ultimatum. The brief location material was incorporated into the story rather than requiring a separate overseas production.
- Producer Jerry Weintraub encouraged the large ensemble to remain together between scenes instead of retreating to individual trailers. The shared on-set social space became known as the "Ocean's Club."
- The movie premiered out of competition at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival before its United States theatrical release on June 8, 2007.
