Synopsis

On a remote desert training exercise, a group of National Guard trainees discovers that the military research station they were sent to resupply has been abandoned. Their search for the missing personnel leads them into a maze of underground tunnels, where a savage mutant clan stalks the soldiers. Cut off from help, the trainees must overcome fear, confusion, and their own inexperience to survive.

• The film is a sequel to the 2006 remake of The Hills Have Eyes, not to Wes Craven's earlier sequel, The Hills Have Eyes Part II from 1985.

• Wes Craven co-wrote the screenplay with his son Jonathan Craven. The story shifts the series' focus from a stranded family to a group of National Guard trainees.

• Although the story is set in New Mexico, production took place in and around Ouarzazate, Morocco. The location had also been used for the 2006 remake.

• The film was made on an estimated $15 million budget and earned approximately $37.6 million worldwide.

• Fox Atomic Comics released The Hills Have Eyes: The Beginning as a tie-in graphic novel. It expands the backstory of the desert community and the events leading into the modern films.
