Synopsis

Terkel is an anxious sixth-grader whose already difficult school life becomes even more troubling after a bullied classmate dies and he begins receiving mysterious threats. With a violent uncle, hostile classmates, an unsettling substitute teacher, and a possible killer closing in, Terkel struggles to discover who is behind the intimidation while trying to survive school, family chaos, and a disastrous class camping trip.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The film is based on Anders Matthesen's 2001 comedy album and radio play, "Arne fortaeller... Terkel i knibe."
  • It was produced by A. Film Production and became the first fully computer-animated Danish feature film.
  • The production grew from an effort to create a less expensive and more unconventional project than earlier Danish animated features.
  • The original Danish version was released theatrically in Denmark on April 2, 2004.
  • At the 22nd Robert Awards, the film won honors including Best Children's and Family Film, Best Original Score, Best Song, Best Sound, and the Audience Award.
  • The film became one of Denmark's ten highest-grossing films of 2004, with approximately 376,000 admissions.
  • The end credits include animated outtakes, extending the film's deliberately irreverent, comedy-album-inspired style.
