Synopsis

Twin sisters Jane and Roxy Ryan could not be more different: one is an ambitious student pursuing an Oxford scholarship, while the other dreams of joining a rock band. During a frantic trip from Long Island to Manhattan, a missed school day, a stolen microchip, and a series of unlikely encounters force the sisters through New York City and into an unexpected reconciliation.

• Released by Warner Bros. on May 7, 2004, the film was the second and final theatrical movie starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen together, following It Takes Two (1995).

• It was also the last film to feature both sisters. Ashley Olsen retired from acting shortly after its release, while Mary-Kate continued appearing in selected projects.

• The twins' fictional mother is represented in several childhood photographs. The images were based on real photographs of Mary-Kate and Ashley, altered for the production.

• Mary-Kate Olsen learned to drive a manual-transmission vehicle for the film.

• Bob Saget makes a brief cameo that plays on his history with the Olsen sisters in Full House. His character notices the girls running past but appears unable to place them.

• Simple Plan appear as themselves, connecting Roxy's musical ambitions to the band's story line.

• The film opened to approximately $5.96 million in North America. At the time, that was reported as the lowest opening weekend for a movie playing in more than 3,000 theaters.
