Christopher Brian Bridges (born September 11, 1977), known professionally as Ludacris, is an American rapper, songwriter, record executive, actor, and entrepreneur. Born in Champaign, Illinois, he moved to Atlanta during his youth, and the city became the central setting for his musical identity. He began writing rhymes as a child and later worked as a radio DJ under the name Chris Lova Lova, a position that helped him build contacts within Atlanta's hip-hop community.
Ludacris first attracted wider attention through his appearance on Timbaland's 1998 track "Phat Rabbit," then released the independent album *Incognegro* in 2000. That project was reworked and issued by Def Jam South as *Back for the First Time*, which became his commercial breakthrough. He later appeared in the acclaimed drama *Crash* (2004), *Hustle & Flow* (2005), *Gamer* (2009), and *New Year's Eve* (2011), while returning as Tej in subsequent *Fast & Furious* films. The character developed from a streetwise mechanic into a technically skilled member of the franchise's central team, making Ludacris one of the series' enduring cast members.
Beyond music and film, Bridges has pursued television, voice acting, philanthropy, and children's entertainment.
