Synopsis
Set in the post-apocalyptic world of the Killjoys, the video follows Party Poison, Fun Ghoul, Jet Star and Kobra Kid as they race through a desert wasteland in a colorful car, battling the forces of Better Living Industries. Their journey includes explosions, gunfights, a mysterious young girl and an encounter with Korse, played by comic-book writer Grant Morrison. Presented like a hyperactive science-fiction trailer, the clip ends on a cliffhanger as the Killjoys prepare for a confrontation.
Factoids & Trivia
- The video premiered on October 14, 2010, ahead of the November 22 release of *Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys*.
- The Killjoy aliases were Party Poison for Gerard Way, Fun Ghoul for Frank Iero, Jet Star for Ray Toro and Kobra Kid for Mikey Way.
- The video expands a comic-book concept created by Gerard Way and Shaun Simon. The same fictional world was later developed through additional videos, comics and the album's wider narrative.
- Grant Morrison, one of Gerard Way's comic-book influences and collaborators, appears as Korse, the leader of the opposing forces.
- The cast also includes Steve Montano as Dr. Death Defying and Grace Jeanette as the young orphan girl.
- The shoot lasted two days. The car-chase material took much longer than expected on the first day, leaving the production to rely more heavily on improvised footage during the second.
- The clip was intentionally shaped as a short-form trailer rather than a conventional, fully developed narrative video. Its quick cuts, exaggerated colors, desert setting and science-fiction props establish the visual language of the *Danger Days* era.
- Gerard Way said the images associated with the song were already vivid in his mind while writing it, including the desert, explosions, masks, laser weapons and a DJ.
