Synopsis
The Black Keys perform "Your Touch" on an Akron bridge, but their set is interrupted when they are shot dead. Afterward, a boy discovers a mysterious Faberge-style egg associated with the band and shows it to people around town. Each person who sees it suffers a bizarre and fatal reaction, while attempts to destroy the object fail. As the ghosts of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney return to their bodies, the video builds toward another absurdly explosive demise.
Factoids & Trivia
- The video was filmed on the old W. Falor Street bridge in Akron, Ohio, with the former Goodrich rubber factory visible behind the band. The local setting connects the clip to the duo's hometown and industrial-rock identity.
- The Faberge-style egg echoes the egg pictured on the cover of *Magic Potion*, the 2006 album from which "Your Touch" was taken.
- The boy carrying the egg was played by Gavin Smith, the stepson of the band's manager.
- The clip uses deliberately deadpan dialogue between the musicians' ghosts, including jokes about being dead and about lip-syncing. The humor contrasts with the song's forceful garage-rock presentation.
- The video was included with *Live at the Crystal Ballroom*, released by Nonesuch in 2008. That DVD also contained making-of footage for "Your Touch," giving the production a place in the band's filmed live-performance catalog.
