Synopsis

Vitamin C performs in a glossy, restless fantasy shaped by the song's theme of desire and dissatisfaction. Stylized urban settings, stacked screens, sparkling effects and a memorable moment on a building ledge give the video a distinctly turn-of-the-millennium pop sheen. Clips from the teen comedy *Get Over It* are woven into the presentation, bringing Kirsten Dunst and Mila Kunis into the video alongside Vitamin C. It plays less like a linear story than a collage of performance, flirtation and longing for something beyond an unfulfilling relationship.

Factoids & Trivia

• "The Itch" was released on October 10, 2000, as the first single from Vitamin C's second album, *More*.

• The song was co-written by Vitamin C, Jimmy Harry and Billy Steinberg. Harry also handled the production, keyboards, arrangement and programming.

• Vitamin C described the song as being about desire and urges, using "the itch" as a broader metaphor for wanting change or feeling hungry for something different.

• Kirsten Dunst and Mila Kunis appear through footage from *Get Over It*. Vitamin C also appears in the film as herself, making the video part of the promotional campaign surrounding the movie.

• The song is associated with *Get Over It*, but it is not one of the movie's principal soundtrack performances. It is heard briefly during a phone-call scene and was included among the film's additional music.

• The home-video release of *Get Over It* included "The Itch" as a bonus music video.

• An enhanced edition of *More* also carried the video as a CD-ROM feature. It used HyperCD technology, which later became unusable after the supporting website disappeared.

• The single reached No. 45 on the US Billboard Hot 100, while performing considerably better in Australia, where it peaked at No. 6 and earned a platinum certification.
