Synopsis

A clandestine street race unfolds in a futuristic city, where high rollers in sleek vehicles compete through neon-lit streets. The action begins as a stylish night drive but quickly turns violent and surreal, with sabotage, seductive imagery, transforming machines, and a bizarre confrontation pushing the racers beyond ordinary competition. The animated clip combines explosive motion, dark humor, and retro-futurist design, turning RipTide's electronic track into a fast-moving miniature sci-fi adventure with an increasingly unhinged finale.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was released in connection with the Jager Music DJ program and accompanied RipTide's track on Secure Recordings. The single was announced for release on February 24, 2014.

• Amsterdam illustrator Stefan Glerum created the artwork, while Crooked Line developed the animation. It was the first time Crooked Line had brought Glerum's illustrations to life in this way.

• The visual language draws on Japanese anime and retro racing culture, with reported influences including "Akira," "Speed Racer," video games, and "Wacky Races."

• The project was presented alongside an exhibition at Amsterdam's Kallenbach Gallery. The show included original drawings, sketches, and prints connected to the video, with selected images issued as limited-edition giclee prints.

• The production team also published separate making-of material covering visual effects, compositing, 3D modeling, and the moving storyboard.
