Synopsis

Trumpet Grrrl skateboards through Brooklyn carrying a box of clothes to a second-hand boutique, where she trades the items for cash. Among them is a bright pair of rain boots. After changing hands several times, the boots pass through a playful chain of owners before unexpectedly returning to Trumpet Grrrl. Dancers, street scenes, and the artist's energetic performance give the video a whimsical, urban feel, turning an ordinary clothing trade into a small, circular adventure.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was created with Cultured Productions. The production team proposed the serendipitous premise, while Trumpet Grrrl contributed the dancers and skateboarding elements.

• The entire process, from planning to release, took about six weeks, but filming itself was completed in a single day.

• Trumpet Grrrl said the song began after she left home on an overcast day and realized she had forgotten her umbrella.

• The lyrics were deliberately written to support more than one interpretation. Although the video focuses on rain boots, the song's language can also suggest a complicated relationship or friendship.

• "Rain Boots" was released as a single from the project that became the *Just Listen* EP. The track was recorded and mixed by Scott Jacoby and mastered at The Lodge by Emily Lazar with Rich Morales assisting.

• The official video was published on January 22, 2014, ahead of the eventual August 15, 2016 release date listed for *Just Listen*.
