Synopsis

"Vladislav Delay - #5 (edit)" presents an abstract audiovisual study rather than a conventional narrative. Filmed from a live projection in a dark Ljubljana club, the piece layers rapidly changing shapes, textures and distorted fragments of motion. Natural and industrial imagery appears to be broken into short loops, then processed into restless patterns that pulse and flicker with the music. The result is a dense, monochrome-leaning visual environment in which movement, rhythm and digital manipulation take the place of characters or story.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video is an edit of "#5," the opening track on Vladislav Delay's Ripatti03 release. The original track runs for nearly eight minutes, while the Vimeo version is presented as a shortened edit.

• The visual piece was filmed in 2013 during a live projection in Ljubljana, Slovenia, rather than produced as a conventional studio music video.

• The projection work drew on loops made from moving subjects including waterfalls, high-speed trains and ants. These images were processed into abstract patterns instead of being shown in documentary form.

• A custom MAX patch was used to transform the source footage. The visual system responded to musical characteristics such as speed, volume and dynamics, making the images function as a live extension of the track.

• Ripatti03 was the third release on Vladislav Delay's self-named Ripatti label and paired "#5" with "#22." The 12-inch appeared in March 2014, followed by a digital edition on November 24, 2014.
