Lena Fayre - Love Burning Alive

Music Video
ArtistLena Fayre

Wiki

Synopsis

Lena Fayre performs a charged portrait of teenage infatuation set against the rituals and restrictions of private-school life. Surrounded by uniformed students and an atmosphere of polished conformity, she focuses on a boy who becomes the center of her restless attention. The story then breaks free into more open, kinetic images, with the pair sharing an escape on the road. School corridors, romantic tension, and moving-car footage turn the song's imagery of fire, gravity, and escape into a stylized coming-of-age fantasy.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was released in November 2013 as a visual companion to "Love Burning Alive," one of the songs on Fayre's self-titled debut EP.
  • The production used a substantial private-school ensemble. The end credits list more than a dozen performers as "Private School Kids," helping create the video's disciplined school-world backdrop.
  • The driving material required dedicated stunt and camera-car personnel. Jef Groff handled stunt driving, while Phil Coppola was credited as camera car driver.
  • Maxwell Runko appears alongside Fayre as the video's central male performer.
  • The production's visual department included cinematographer Robert Lam and production designer Austin Buchinsky. The latter's work was supported by art dresser Andrew Scheff.
  • Fayre described the song as an expression of "messy, golden teenage angst and relationship drama," a useful key to the video's contrast between school restraint and romantic abandon.
  • "Love Burning Alive" was written by Lena Fayre, Kosta Lois, and Jenn DeCilveo. The song later received an honorable mention in the 2013 International Songwriting Competition's music video and vocal performance categories.
  • In 2016, the song won the LOVE songwriting contest organized by the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in partnership with the American Heart Association and Women's International Music Network. Fayre was subsequently invited to perform it at the Grammy Museum's Rock the Red event.
