Synopsis
Rebecca Bloomwood is a New York journalist whose compulsive shopping has left her buried in debt. Hoping to reach her dream job at a fashion magazine, she instead lands at a financial publication, where she must hide her mounting problems from her editor. As creditors close in and her deceptions unravel, Rebecca is forced to confront her spending, ambitions, and relationships.

- The film combines material from Sophie Kinsella's first two Shopaholic novels, The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Abroad. In the United States, those books were published as Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Takes Manhattan.
