Synopsis

Rebellious teenager Rachel is sent to spend the summer with her strict grandmother Georgia in rural Idaho after her mother, Lilly, can no longer manage her behavior. Forced to live under Georgia's uncompromising rules, Rachel gradually confronts painful family secrets. The tense arrangement brings three generations together and challenges their assumptions about responsibility, trust, love, and forgiveness.

• Although the story is set in Idaho, the production was filmed in Southern California, including Santa Paula, Santa Clarita, Glendale, Los Angeles, and Northridge.

• Filming took place from June 27 through August 2006. Some of the rural Idaho scenery was created or enhanced digitally.

• Production attracted unusual media attention after Morgan Creek chief executive James G. Robinson sent Lindsay Lohan a strongly worded warning letter about reported lateness and on-set conduct. The letter was subsequently leaked to the press.

• The film was released in the United States on May 11, 2007.
