Synopsis

After being attacked and left for dead, high school student Nick Powell awakens in a strange state between life and death. Invisible to the living, he realizes that his spirit remains connected to his body and that time is running out. His only chance of survival may be Annie Newton, the troubled girl responsible for the attack.

Factoids & Trivia

• The film is an American remake of the Swedish supernatural thriller Den osynlige (2002), which was loosely based on Mats Wahl's young adult novel Den osynlige.

• Screenwriter Mick Davis was involved with both versions. He originally wrote the screenplay in English before it was translated into Swedish for the 2002 film.

• Principal photography began in September 2005 in Vancouver, British Columbia, with locations also used around the surrounding area.

• The film's original dramatic score was composed by Marco Beltrami. The 2007 soundtrack album was instead structured largely as a compilation of alternative-rock songs and did not include Beltrami's score.

• The DVD release included deleted scenes, commentary from the filmmakers, and music videos, including Thirty Seconds to Mars' "The Kill" and Sparta's "Taking Back Control."

• Released in the United States on April 27, 2007, The Invisible was the last theatrical film distributed under Disney's Hollywood Pictures banner before the label was discontinued.
