Synopsis

After a Viking raid destroys his adopted Native village, Ghost sets out to stop the invaders before they reach neighboring settlements. Pursued across a frozen wilderness, he joins forces with Starfire and a mute tribal companion. As the Vikings close in, Ghost must use his knowledge of the land, his warrior skills, and his divided heritage to confront their ruthless leader.

Factoids & Trivia

• The film is loosely based on the 1987 Norwegian-Sami film Pathfinder (original title: Ofelas), which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

• The story's Viking encounters were associated with the Beothuk people of Newfoundland, although the film was shot primarily in British Columbia, Canada.

• Viking costumes were padded with hockey shoulder pads to make the raiders appear broader and more imposing.

• The theatrical release was shortened to secure an R rating. The unrated home-video version restores additional violence, gore, plot material, and a sex scene.

• Dark Horse Comics published a graphic-novel adaptation around the time of the film's release. It was developed from the screenplay and helped promote the project before the movie reached theaters.
