Synopsis

Linda Hanson is devastated when she learns that her husband, Jim, has died in a car accident. The next morning, however, he is alive, and Linda discovers that she is experiencing the days surrounding his death out of order. As the week repeatedly shifts around her, she struggles to understand what is happening and whether her actions can change the future.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The production was originally intended to film in New Orleans, but the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina led the filmmakers to relocate much of the shoot to Louisiana communities including Shreveport and Minden.
  • The film was shot in continuity rather than according to the final edited order. This required Sandra Bullock to keep track of what Linda knew on each day of the story.
  • Principal photography lasted approximately 45 days, with filming beginning around January 19, 2006.
  • The screenplay's premise closely resembles "The Ides of March," an episode of the CBS Radio Mystery Theater that first aired on September 10, 1975.
  • With an estimated budget of $20 million, the film earned approximately $84 million worldwide.
  • Premonition was the first film to be co-distributed by TriStar Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures.
