Synopsis

When a terrorist attack traps more than 2,000 police officers inside a Miami Beach convention hotel, the often inept deputies of the Reno Sheriff's Department are called upon to keep the city safe. Away from home and badly out of their depth, they handle increasingly absurd emergencies involving criminals, animals, explosions, and their own questionable judgment.

• The film is based on Comedy Central's mockumentary series Reno 911! and was released theatrically in the United States on February 23, 2007.

• Principal photography took place in Miami, Florida, and Los Angeles, California.

• The movie features all 11 members of the sketch-comedy troupe The State, whose alumni also include several of the film's guest performers.

• Dave Grohl performs the movie's opening theme song, "Police and Thieves."

• Made on an estimated $10 million budget, the film earned approximately $22 million worldwide.

• The North American DVD release included both theatrical and unrated versions, along with alternate and extended scenes and a featurette titled "Making a Spoof."

• A proposed follow-up, Reno 911!: SOS, was developed as a treatment but was not produced. Its story would have stranded the deputies on a deserted island with a serial killer.
