Synopsis

Years after retiring from boxing, Rocky Balboa runs a small Philadelphia restaurant and struggles with grief, loneliness, and his distant relationship with his son. When a computer simulation suggests that Rocky could defeat reigning champion Mason "The Line" Dixon, the idea inspires an exhibition bout. Rocky returns to training, confronting his age and limitations while seeking one final chance to prove himself.

Factoids & Trivia

• The film was shot in only 38 days. The climactic fight was filmed first so Sylvester Stallone could take advantage of the physical conditioning he had built during six months of training.

• The Las Vegas fight sequences used the atmosphere of a real HBO boxing event featuring Bernard Hopkins and Jermaine Taylor. The production filmed around the actual press conference and crowd, whose spontaneous standing ovation for Rocky became one of the shoot's memorable moments.

• Antonio Tarver, who plays Mason Dixon, was a professional boxer and former world champion. His participation gave the fight scenes a more authentic rhythm than the heavily choreographed bouts in earlier installments.

• Pedro Lovell returns as Spider Rico, the boxer Rocky fought in the opening film. The character is now connected to Rocky's restaurant, providing a direct link to the 1976 original.
