Synopsis

Michael appears to have everything in place as he approaches 30: a successful career, close friends, and a long-term relationship with Jenna. When he meets Kim, a younger college student, he makes a reckless choice that threatens his future. As Michael struggles with guilt, commitment, and the possibility of losing Jenna, his friends and their own relationship problems reflect the uncertainty of entering adulthood.

• The film is an American remake of Gabriele Muccino's 2001 Italian romantic drama L'ultimo bacio.

• Although the story is set in Madison, Wisconsin, most of the production was filmed in Montreal. The filmmakers also shot scenes at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and in downtown Madison.

• Zach Braff contributed dialogue revisions during production. He also wrote the short rain scene near the end, after he and the filmmakers felt the original version needed an additional moment before the conclusion.

• Rachel Bilson made her feature-film debut in the movie.

• The production was connected to Madison through producers Tom Rosenberg and Andre Lamal, both University of Wisconsin-Madison graduates who wanted the city to remain central to the story.

• The movie opened in the United States on September 15, 2006, after festival screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Deauville Film Festival.
