Synopsis

Ricky Bobby grows up believing that speed is the key to success, and he becomes NASCAR's top driver alongside his best friend and teammate, Cal Naughton Jr. His comfortable reign is disrupted by Jean Girard, an arrogant French Formula One champion who enters NASCAR. After a devastating crash and personal collapse, Ricky must rediscover his confidence, repair his relationships, and return to the track.

• The movie was pitched to studios in six words: "Will Ferrell as a NASCAR driver."

• Will Ferrell and Adam McKay began developing the project after attending a NASCAR race in Fontana, California. They wanted to celebrate the sport rather than simply ridicule it, and NASCAR provided production assistance.

• The racing material was filmed at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the former North Carolina Motor Speedway in Rockingham. Much of the rest of the production took place around the Charlotte area.

• The production briefly used the working title "High, Wide and Handsome" before returning to "Talladega Nights."

• NASCAR drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jamie McMurray appear in cameo roles, while real race broadcasters also contributed to the film's race coverage.

• Several brands featured prominently in the movie, including Wonder Bread, Old Spice, Perrier, Powerade, and Valvoline. Wonder Bread and Old Spice supported the movie's promotion through promotional arrangements rather than paying traditional placement fees.
