As the house grows more dangerous, the three children must uncover its tragic history and find a way to stop it before it destroys their neighborhood.

  • The movie received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature at the 79th Academy Awards.
  • It was released in a stereoscopic 3-D version on select digital screens alongside its standard theatrical presentation.
  • The film was produced by Columbia Pictures, ImageMovers and Amblin Entertainment, with animation handled by Sony Pictures Imageworks.
  • Composer Douglas Pipes won an ASCAP Film and Television Music Award for one of the year's top box-office films.
  • Released in the United States on July 21, 2006, the film earned approximately $141.9 million worldwide against an estimated $75 million budget.
