Synopsis

Matt Saunders begins dating Jenny Johnson, an apparently ordinary woman who is secretly G-Girl, a super-powered crime fighter. When Matt ends the relationship, Jenny turns her extraordinary abilities against him, sabotaging his career, romance, and personal life. As her revenge escalates, Matt seeks help from an eccentric scientist while trying to survive his super-powered ex-girlfriend's increasingly dangerous obsession.

• Screenwriter Don Payne originally developed the project as a spec script titled "Super-Ex." The title was later changed to "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," partly because of its closeness to the X-Men brand.

• Payne conceived the story while working as a writer and producer on The Simpsons. He described the concept as a romantic comedy built around a superhero rather than a conventional superhero action film.

• Principal photography took place in New York City between October 2005 and January 2006. Port Chester High School in Westchester County was used for the characters' high school scenes.

• The film's flying, super-strength, and destruction effects involved several visual-effects companies, with Digital Domain handling special visual effects and digital animation.
