Synopsis

Ten years after the Quick Stop's original troubles, Dante and Randal are still working together, but their routine collapses when a fire destroys the store. Forced to take jobs at a fast-food restaurant, they struggle with dead-end employment, Dante's impending marriage, and competing ideas about adulthood. Jay and Silent Bob remain close by as the friends consider whether to rebuild their old lives or move on.

Factoids & Trivia

• The film was originally developed under the title Clerks 2: Hardly Clerkin, then became The Passion of the Clerks, a joke referencing The Passion of the Christ. Negative reactions led to the simpler title Clerks II.

• Unlike the original Clerks, which was filmed in black and white, the sequel was shot primarily in color, reflecting its larger reported budget of approximately $5 million.

• The Mooby's restaurant was created inside a former Burger King in Buena Park, California. The building was later demolished.

• Production returned to the Quick Stop and RST Video locations in Leonardo, New Jersey. The go-kart sequence was filmed at Speed Zone in Industry, California.

• The movie screened out of competition at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival and won the Audience Award at the 2006 Edinburgh International Film Festival.
