Synopsis

Overworked executive Bob Munro secretly replaces his family's Hawaiian vacation with a cross-country RV trip to Colorado, hoping to attend an important business meeting without telling them. As the journey turns into a string of mechanical failures, embarrassing mishaps, and encounters with an exuberant family of full-time campers, the Munros are forced to confront their strained relationships and rediscover the value of spending time together.

• The film was released in 2006 under the title RV. It was also marketed as RV - Runaway Vacation and Runaway Vacation.

• Principal photography began on May 25, 2005, in the Vancouver area and southern Alberta, with filming continuing through August.

• James Newton Howard composed the score. The music also features several members of Lyle Lovett's touring band, along with solo vocals from Alvin Chea of Take 6.

• The soundtrack prominently includes road and country songs such as "GTO," "Route 66," "Cherry Bomb," and "Stand by Your Man."
