Synopsis

In a future Britain ruled by an authoritarian regime, Evey Hammond is rescued from arrest by V, a masked revolutionary inspired by Guy Fawkes. As V plans a spectacular attack on Parliament, he draws Evey into his campaign against state control, propaganda, and fear. Their alliance forces Evey to confront her own limits and decide what freedom is worth.

• The film adapts the graphic novel created by writer Alan Moore and artist David Lloyd, although Moore later rejected the film adaptation and asked not to be credited.
• Principal photography took place in England and Germany from March 7 to June 9, 2005. Studio Babelsberg in Potsdam served as a major production base.
• Hugo Weaving replaced James Purefoy during the fourth week of filming. Because V wears a mask throughout the film, Weaving's performance could be incorporated largely through dubbing and additional work.
